Laughter

I crouch down in front of you,

The light is still early-morning grey,

I can see the sole of one foot

So I tickle it.

You laugh and remonstrate but

You offer me the other

I tickle that too,

And then the palm of one hand,

Another giggle, payment for another tickle,

One more palm, then we’re all done,

We both laugh and the day is begun.
